Innovative Technologies and Skills Center (ITSC)

Concept of Innovative Technologies and Skills Center (ITSC)

The 4th industrial revolution will bring higher level of automation and interconnectivity in the manufacturing process. The tools, technologies and machines to be used are expected to be different from what is present today. Smart machines will coordinate manufacturing processes by themselves, smart service robots will collaborate with workers on assembly line and smart transport systems will transfer goods from one place to another. Smart devices like tablets, wearable etc., will be used to gather and analyse real-time information. With skills required for the jobs changing faster, companies across the world are facing challenges in finding skilled workforce at current skill levels. Technology is evolving faster than ever before and the talent pool through which employers have to select workers is shrinking due to declining workforce.

Need of ITSC

NUTECH has taken the initiative of imparting top quality education from level 1 (Informal Education) to level 8 (PhD) of National Qualification Framework (NQF) by following the best international practices. The university is envisioned to be an internationally acclaimed research university by producing leaders of industry. Under its mandate, NUTECH has to create a highly competent, qualified and skilled workforce in all eight levels of education and create a competitive advantage in the national, regional (Asia Pacific Region) and international industry (Europe & North America). NUTECH Skills Development Directorate (NSDD) has been established to standardize technical and vocational education at national level and bring the skills development training at par with the best international practices. Keeping in view the above requirements of skills for industry 4.0, NUTECH aspires to create technology leaders in the realm of Fourth Industrial Revolution that requires combination of hardware, software and biology (cyber-physical systems) and emphasizes advances in communication and connectivity. NUTECH envisages maximizing need driven industrial output by revolutionizing technology education sector in Pakistan through the creation of NUTECH Innovative Technologies and Skills Park (ITSC). ITSC will transform raw human resource into invaluable capital and produce highly skilled workforce to meet the needs of national, regional and international industry and fast track our socio economic development.

Technologies at ITSC

ITSC would ensure the development of skills required to collaborate and implement the integration, design and development. The translation of ITSC concept will ensure quantum leap necessary to revival of industry in Pakistan. ITSC will focus on skills of the existing and emerging technologies that are already contributing to Industry 4.0. These skills will be domain specific and will ensure training, development and certification of required industry 4.0 technologies. The domains of the industry 4.0 that would be targeted are as follow; ITSC will impart skills relevant to these domains:
