Fluid Mechanics

Fluid mechanics: comprises mathematical study which helps us to understand the performance of fluid under different forces and at diverse atmospheric situations, and to select the suitable fluid for several uses. The highest area of attention in fluid mechanics are:

Fluid Mechanics and Chemical Engineering: Majority of chemical-treating procedures are conducted both partly and completely in the fluid phase.

Fluid Mechanics and Biology: (Blood flow analysis, bio-tribology, aerodynamics of birds and insects, laser operation, human cardiac and breathing systems, cell transportation and drug delivery etc.)

Fluid Mechanics and Geo-Physics: ( Rotation of the fluid in arrears to the planetary rotation and stratification (layering).

Experimental High Energy Physics

In experimental high energy physics, we study elementary particles and their properties which is vital for our understanding of the universe we live in. The field of study focuses on finding and investigating the most fundamental forces and nature of particles, and to advance human understanding of how the universe came into existence. The famous Higgs boson, Prof. Abdus Salam’s Electroweak theory, CERN, LHC, PAEC, are some of the key words and relevant aspects in experimental particle physics. Here at NUTECH, we are interested in investigating the phenomenological aspects of elementary particle interaction. With experience of working on Detectors, Data Analysis, Simulation and Software development, we are trying to keep the interest going with phenomenological studies as well as collaborating with other scientists involved in particle physics, in the region and at international level.

Nanotechnology

Nanotechnology is the use of matter on an atomic, molecular, and supramolecular scale for industrial purposes. In this field of study, we deal with the manipulation of matter in nanoscale range. At NUTECH we create new nanomaterials for different applications such as Nano electronics, cancer treatment using magnetic nanoparticles, wearable nanofibers, wastewater treatment using biocompatible nanoparticles for clean environment applications. Our main focus is nanofabrication, characterization, analysis and the specular vision of industrial applications of nanomaterials and devices. Modeling and simulation of these fabricated nanoparticles is also performed for potential effects in global industrial applications. .

Computational Quantum Physics

Charge transport: The study of time-dependent effects in the transport through molecular junctions is in the focus of this research line. Two different sources of time-dependent perturbations can be considered: fluctuations resulting from surrounding liquids and external (laser) fields that lead to large and fast fluctuations of the site energies of the orbitals involved in the charge transfer. Computational methods need to be employed to accurately and efficiently determine the charge current and noise in these cases.

Light harvesting complexes: The light absorption in light-harvesting complexes is mainly performed by chlorophyll or bilin molecules. Experimental findings in some of these complexes suggest the existence of long-lived coherences between the individual pigments at low temperatures. To this end we are performing classical molecular dynamics simulations and quantum chemistry calculations on some light-harvesting systems.

Renewable Energy & Nanotechnology

Nanotechnology is a tool for enhanced Renewable Energy application in developing Countries.
Nanotechnology has the potential to provide cleaner, more affordable, more efficient and more reliable ways to harness renewable energy resources. It is also utilized for improved wind and geothermal power generation, energy storage, lighting and hydrogen fuel cells among others renewable energy applications e.g. Classic nanostructures such as carbon nanotubes (CNT), fullerenes and quantum dots are being used to make solar cells lighter, cheaper and more efficient. Nanotechnology is also used in improving the efficiency of windmills. An epoxy-containing carbon nanotubes is now used to make stronger and lighter windmill blades. Developing countries need to increase their eوٴort by investing on nanotechnology research as this could help them to overcome their energy challenges.
