Computer Graphics (Level-03)

Computer Graphics print is an area in information technology that helps in producing colourful cards, advertisement, logos, illustration, charts, banners and other printable items. A computer Graphics Designer can be employed in government and non-government organizations dealing with printing especially the print media.

CBT Based Program

The course offered for Computer Graphics is Competency Based Training (CBT). CBT program is designed and delivered by adopting a systematic approach, focusing on better employability of the trainees with strong market linkages. It is 80 % practical training with mandatory feature of internship in industry. Through competency based assessment, the trainees will be assessed after completing the programme and awarded high quality national vocational certificates.

Modules Offered

Modules offered in Computer Graphics are designed to cater the need of industry. Following are the modules included in the course:

Perform Software and Hardware Maintenance

This module covers:

  • Installations of various graphic software (Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign)
  • Installation and uninstallation of operating system on the computer using DVD of operating system.
  • MS Office (Word, PowerPoint & Excel) Training

Photo Editing and Graphic Development (Adobe Photoshop)

This module covers:

  • Photo editing software to make adjustments of image,
  • To demonstrate the colour correction techniques, adjust brightness, contrast, and colour tint, colour saturation of the image as a whole, retouching, and removing dust.
  • Transformation, correct lens aberrations, adjust the geometry by crop, rotate, use of filter, merging two photos into one and importing photos.
  • It also include how to develop a layout on canvas to create media elements, graphs, tables, text and diagrams using the techniques and also applying colours to the developed objects.

Develop Design Concept (Adobe Illustrator)

This module covers

  • Requirements and needs of target  market/audience
  • Design od effective brand guidelines
  • Develop colour themes based on brand guidelines
  • Different logo designs
  • Business stationary designs

Preparing Pre-Press Job (Corel Draw)

This module covers:

  • The specification and elements to be included in a document before printing
  • Concepts of crop marks or trim to trim the document and set the final intended size of the document
  • Describes the concepts of Unique Selling Point guidance, relation of printing plates, document size, rulers and the process of changing ruler settings

Familiarization with Terminologies and Tools (InDesign)

This module covers:

  • Elements and Principles of Design
  • Demonstrate usage of tools in graphics software
  • Demonstrate how to develop multipage document

Analyse Cost Effective Solution

This module covers

  • The concepts about papers used for printing
  • To select suitable paper size for printing, process for printing, orientation of paper size
  • Propose a cost effective printing process and know the international names of paper sizes and printing machine

Communicating with Others

This module covers:

  • Concepts of communicating with clients, business owners and other stakeholders.
  • Effective dealings with clients, business owner or supervisor and synthesize relevant information about all problems and understanding of their product/ service required.
  • Different skills and techniques used to communicate with colleagues, seniors, junior, peers etc.
  • Demonstrate effective communication with colleagues and Interact with other professionals involved in design development through effective teamwork.

Duties and Rights at a Work Place

This module covers:

  • Values that serve as the foundation for decision making and guidance to the action of the employees i.e. Responsibility, Respect, Fairness, and Honesty.
  • Concepts and activities involved in the planning of the business process activities.
  • Activities like specific life cycle methodologies, estimate time for activities, and perform breakdowns of the work and levelling the resources.
