About Library

NUTECH Library is playing an active part in higher education system of the university by providing relevant and up to-date information to the information seekers. The library is a partner in research and technological innovations while encouraging users to fully capitalize library knowledge assets to enhance their expertise as per their academic/future professional needs. Rich in both printed and electronic resources, NUTECH Library contributes directly to the institution’s academic mission of equipping users with the skills and knowledge they need to become creative and technically sound engineers & technologists so as to best serve society and industry through purposeful education, research and innovation. In line with this, NUTECH Library operates with a motto of ‘Read – Discover – Innovate’. Library is located at level 6 & 7 of University Academic Block.

Print Collection

Library offers a rich print collection to facilitate both students and faculty in meeting their academic requirements and thus broadening their knowledge through reading. It strives to support the academic needs of on-going and prospective research programs of the university. To facilitate maximum use of the library resources, nearly all library materials are in open shelves, easily accessible to the users. Whole collection is arranged in a sequence of classification numbers while grouping similar / related subject books. The most common classification system that is ‘Dewey Decimal Classification’ (DDC) is being used in NUTECH Library.

Library is affording large collection of latest subject related text and supporting books according to the faculty / student’s academic needs.

Reference Collection consists of wide range of Encyclopedias, Dictionaries and Reference Books related to various engineering disciplines and general interest subjects.

Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)

You can locate books and other material available at NUTECH library through OPAC.  OPAC usually allows searching by author name, title, and subject. To access OPAC, please click at http://10.200.113.133 (access available within campus and through VPN account).

HEC Digital Library

NUTECH Library is providing access to more than 23,000 high quality, peer-reviewed journals, 6 x databases and articles through HEC’s Digital Library Program. In addition to these, thousands of E-books are also offered on different subjects of Science & Technology, Social Sciences and Humanities. NUTECH VPN

To facilitate faculty, approved research students and administrative staff, Off-Campus Virtual Private Network (VPN) has been established for access to HEC Digital Library (DL) resources and to search/locate books through OPAC. These resources can be accessed even from outside of the NUTECH University as well.

Step by Step Corporate VPN Guideline

This guide explains how to setup NUTECH Corporate VPN as under:

Step 1

  • Open Start Menu Bar or press Windows Key.
  • Type: Command Prompt or CMD.
  • Right click on Command Prompt and open as an Administrator.
  • Once open, paste following key
  • REG ADD HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\PolicyAgent /v AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule /t REG_DWORD /d 0x2 /f
  • Press Enter.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Once your computer is restarted go to Step 2.

Step 2

  • Download and extract the attached VPN zip (Download). (For ICT Office, Upload VPN.zip file for installation)
  • Run VPN.exe and install it in your system.
  • Use your provided username and password to connect and use the VPN service.

Terms and Conditions Regarding Use of Digital Library

NUTECH administration has signed an Institutional Agreement with the HEC, confirming their compliance with the Terms and Conditions of license agreements for the use of Digital Library resources. In order to ensure the continuity of the program, it is vital to ensure that there are no violations of the license agreements. Publish​ers are constantly monitoring the use of their databases, and illegal activities can be easily detected and if someone found in illegal activities, substantial fines will be imposed by NUTECH. The document below details the general terms and conditions for use of the digital library resources. Please read it carefully before using the e-resources

  • Copyright must be respected at all times by all users of the information resources.
  • Participating institutes and their members must not make printed copies of any of the materials within the Digital Library unless this is within the terms and conditions clearly permissible within the publisher license. Single printed copies of individual resources (e.g. articles) are within the bounds of all the licenses but they must only be for individual use.
  • Participating institutes and their members may not make any kind of material, financial or other gains from any article, item or other piece of content from the Digital Library/ PERI information resources. No resources or part of the resources may be sold, exchanged or otherwise traded. For example, use of the electronic resources must not be based on any kind of charging system, apart from any nominal computer access administrative charges.
  • Participating institutes and their members may not make ANY copies of CD-ROMs, DVDs or other disks provided as part of the PERI initiative.
  • Participating institutes and their members may not lend copies of CD-ROMs, DVDs or other disks provided as part of the PERI initiative unless they have specific    written permission from the publisher concerned.

Prohibited Activities

  • ​Downloading and copying entire issues or volumes of any journal.
  • Commercial use of journal content, including but not limited to, providing a fee-for-copying service.
  • Altering, obscuring or removing copyright and other proprietary notices which appear as part of the journal service or appear alongside journal content.

Examples of Misuse

  • Downloading full text articles and emailing them to friends outside the institution.
  • People from commercial companies using library facilities to access resources.
  • Printing out entire electronic journals and making copies.
  • Including large parts of articles in student workbook material.

Agreements and License

  • All electronic resources will be subject to some license or access agreement.
  • Each resource or package has a specific agreement.
  • Specific contractual agreements should be available from each supplier/publisher.
  • Copyright and terms of use are often included online.

Copyright Law

Copyright law exists to protect the intellectual standing and the economic rights of creators and publishers of all literary, dramatic, artistic, musical, audio-visual and electronic works. Electronic materials are copyrighted in the same manner as print materials.

Reference Material

Reference Collection consists of wide range of Encyclopedias, Dictionaries and Reference Books related to various engineering disciplines and general interest subjects.

Help Desk Services

The main purpose of this service is to advise the researchers, students and faculty regarding services & collections of the library.

Circulation Desk Services

Circulation section is the gateway between users and document resource. All registered users of library are entitled to borrow books and items from this section. Lending privileges differ for various categories of membership. Renewal and reservation services are also available for the same

Current Awareness Service (CAS)

The purpose of a current-awareness service is to inform the users about new acquisitions in NUTECH Library.

Reprographic Service

NUTECH Library also serves the library users with printing, scanning and photocopying services

ILMS

Library is equipped with KOHA Integrated Library Management System’ (ILMS).

Research Stations

40 x latest computer terminals are available for researchers in library.

Discussion Rooms

5 well equipped ‘Discussion Rooms’ alongwith research commons are available in Library – all connected to high speed dual internet facility and latest HEC data bases. A group can reserve a room for maximum of 2 x hours

Plagiarism Software

Reference services section provides plagiarism checking service to Faculty, Staff and Students for their articles, thesis and research reports. For plagiarism checking, simply email at [email protected], [email protected] and library staff can response the users with plagiarism similarity report

Policies & Procedures

1. General Rules & Regulations 

  • University Student/Staff/Faculty card is compulsory for getting access to the library.
  • In case of lost University Student/Staff/Faculty card, please immediately report to the circulation staff so that your membership can be temporarily blocked to prevent misuse of card.
  • Make sure you provide correct information while filling your library membership  form. 
  • Leave your personal belongings outside the library.
  • Drinks and eatables are not allowed in the library.
  • Keep your mobiles switched-off within the library premises.
  • Complete silence should be observed except for brief and subdued talk with the library staff or in any other section of the library.
  • After reading, leave books on the table or on the book trolley. Please do not shelve the books. 
  • Do not write, underline or mark any book as library books are carefully examined on return and the borrower will be held responsible for any damage.
  • Ask for help from library staff if you are unable to find your required material.
  • While returning library books or other materials at the circulation desk, please ensure that the circulation staff has received the book(s).

2. Membership Policy 

Membership is provided to:

  • Faculty (including visiting faculty)
  • Students
  • Administrative Staff/University employees
  • Library Membership Form can be downloaded from downloads tab

3. Loan Policy

  • Loan Privilege for Books

Following categories of members shall observe the loan schedule mentioned against each:

  • Teaching / Faculty Members - 5 books upto 30 days
  • All Others - 3 books upto 14 days
  • Terms of Loan

Information material of the following nature shall not be issued but can be consulted in the library:

  • Works marked as REFERENCE/RESERVED such as Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Atlases etc.
  • Current issues of periodicals and newspapers.
  • Unprocessed/under process material like thesis, student’s project/research reports and pamphlets.
  • Non-printed material other than received as allied material.
  • Works other than mentioned above may be issued on recommendation of Dean/HoDs in temporarily loan category (i.e, for 4-5 hours).
  • Renewal 
    • Loaned resources can be renewed for further fifteen days provided no other user had reserved it.
    • Overdue material will not be re-issued.
    • If borrowed material is urgently required in the library, it would be called back.
    • Librarian may withhold/ restrict circulation of any material.
    • Currently, Books cannot be re-issued on telephone/ by email.
  • Fines 

1. Overdue Fines

Books and other library resources borrowed from NUTECH Library must be returned within the due date mentioned on ‘Due Date Slip’. Items not returned within due date will be fined as follows:

  • Regular loan – Rs 20 per day.
  • If a fine exceeds Rs 1000, membership may be curtailed until the payment of the fine. The Competent Authority has the discretion to waive off any portion of the fine.

2. Damage Fines

  • If borrowed material is damaged or lost, the borrower will be required to deposit either exact replacement or fine which may be up to three times the actual cost of the material.
  • In case the damaged / lost item or book is a part of the set, the borrower will  have to make payment for the whole set.

4. Group Study Rooms Allocation Policy

Students can use Study Rooms for group study and academic discussions with  prior reservation while following instructions as under:

  • A group must be composed of four to eight NUTECH members.
  • The group representative who would be responsible for conduct of the  group, must arrive at the reception at least 5 minutes before the booked time along with his/her NUTECH ID card, library staff will unlock the room for the group.   
  • If a group does not show up within 15 minutes of the reserved time, reservation will be cancelled and room will be allotted to the next group in line.   
  • Maintain a moderate volume of discussion as rooms are not fully sound proof and loud discussion would disturb other users in adjoining rooms / study areas.   
  • LED displays and other equipment in Group Study Rooms to be carefully utilized, the focal person will be responsible for any damages to electronic and other equipment. 
  • Use of the rooms is limited to two (2) hours. The group may request for hourly extension if there is no standing reservation for the next hour. 
  • Rooms will not be used for any purposes other than studies.   
  • No food or beverages can be consumed in group study rooms.   
  • Proper handover of room to the library staff before leaving.
