Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  1. PEO-1: To apply knowledge and skills to provide sustainable solutions to challenging engineering problems in industry and academia.
  2. PEO-2: Pursue lifelong learning, continual professional development, and sustainable growth of the society.
  3. PEO-3: To manage engineering and social problems effectively and innovatively while adhering to work ethics and social values.

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)

  1. PLO-1 Engineering Knowledge: Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, engineering fundamentals and Engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems. 
  2. PLO-2 Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, conduct research literature, and analyze complex Engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences. 
  3. PLO-3 Design/Development of Solutions: An ability to design solutions for complex engineering problems and design systems, components or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations. 
  4. PLO-4 Investigation: Conduct investigation of complex Engineering problems using research-based knowledge and research methods, including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions. 
  5. PLO-5 Tool Usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modeling, to complex Engineering problems, with an understanding of the limitations. 
  6. PLO-6 The Engineer and the World: Analyze and evaluate sustainable development impacts to society, the economy, sustainability, health and safety, legal frameworks, and the environment while solving complex engineering problems. 
  7. PLO-7 Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and norms of engineering practice and adhere to relevant national and international laws. Demonstrate an understanding of the need for diversity and inclusion (WK-9). 
  8. PLO-8 Individual and Collaborative Team Work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse and inclusive teams and in multi-disciplinary, face-to-face, remote and distributed settings.

Research Areas

1. Advance Material Science

Advance Material Science encompasses diverse research areas, including advanced materials and composites like metal, polymer, and ceramic matrix composites for aerospace and biomedical applications, along with nanomaterials such as graphene and CNTs. Smart and functional materials, including shape memory alloys, piezoelectric materials, and self-healing polymers, are revolutionizing sensors and actuators. Research in high-performance metals and alloys focuses on super alloys, lightweight metals, and additive manufacturing. Corrosion, wear, and surface engineering improve material durability using coatings and tribology.

2. Thermo-Fluid

Thermo-Fluid covers a wide range of areas, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for turbulence modeling, and multiphase flows. Heat transfer involve phase change materials, microchannel cooling, and radiative heat transfer. Aerodynamics focus on supersonic flows, drag reduction, and wind tunnel testing. Internal combustion engines research aims at efficiency improvements, emission reduction, and advanced combustion techniques. HVAC optimize refrigeration, energy-efficient heating/cooling systems. Turbomachinery enhance gas turbines, jet engines, and hydrodynamic performance for energy and aerospace applications.

3. Renewable Energy

Renewable energy explores solar energy systems, including high-efficiency photovoltaics, concentrated solar power (CSP), and hybrid solar solutions. Wind energy focuses on turbine blade optimization, offshore wind farms, and energy storage integration. Hydropower and marine energy involve micro-hydro systems, tidal and wave energy conversion, and hydrokinetic power extraction. Biomass and bioenergy research includes biogas production, thermochemical conversion, and algae-based biofuels.

4. Design and Manufacturing 

Manufacturing covers advanced manufacturing processes such as 3D printing, micro/Nano-manufacturing, and hybrid methods for aerospace and medical applications. Smart and digital manufacturing integrates Industry 4.0, IoT, digital twins, and AI-driven predictive maintenance for optimized production. Sustainable and green manufacturing focuses on energy-efficient processes, waste reduction, and eco-friendly materials. 5. Automation & Control

Automation and control includes robotics and autonomous systems, such as industrial robots, self-navigating drones, and soft robotics for medical applications.
