Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The following objectives will be pursued by the PhD program in civil engineering that will enable students to: 

  • Advance cutting-edge knowledge in core and emerging areas of civil engineering, fostering innovation and addressing industry-driven challenges through applied research.
  • Develop multidisciplinary skills and research competencies with a strong focus on industry-oriented solutions, enhancing the university's role as a leader in industry-academia collaboration.
  • Critically assess and solve complex technical challenges in civil engineering, promoting sustainable and practical innovations for the evolving demands of Pakistan's infrastructure sector.

  • Demonstrate comprehensive expertise in a specialized area of civil engineering, while integrating interdisciplinary knowledge to approach multifaceted engineering challenges.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria/admission requirements are as under

  • Masters/MPhil/ Equivalent degree in
    • Civil Engineering
    • Construction Engineering & Management
    • Engineering Management
    • Project Management
  • Any other equivalent qualification in relevant subject, as deemed appropriate by the PhD Evaluation and Acceptance committee (PEAC) with approval of the competent authority at the university Main Office.
  • Deficient courses will be mandatory and will be recommended at the time of admission by PEAC
  • Minimum CGPA 3.0 out of 4.0 or 3.75 out of 5.0 or First Division in annual system.
  • The percentage will be valid only if the CGPA is not mentioned in the degree/transcript. GRE Subject International (score > 60 percentile) or GAT Subject by NTS (score > 60 %) or local GRE subject type test (Score>70 %) conducted by NUST (as applicable) is required.
