About Chemistry

Chemistry is everywhere starting from very basic molecules to building structures and devices based on it. A deeper understanding of mechanisms/processes has enabled its integration to different fields such as Biology, Physics and Mathematics which has allowed it to evolve into multifaceted interdisciplinary science. With the ever growing need to develop sustainable solutions to the problems faced by the world such as electricity outage, water scarcity, and environmental issues, designing devices to monitor toxic gases emitted by industries and vehicles, developing biosensors for detection of TB, HIV and non-invasive techniques to identify and diagnose diseases etc., its importance cannot be denied. In industrial processes, chemical reactions play an important role in developing and synthesizing materials of commercial significance and entices to explore further new possibilities for improving existing technologies. Many lifesaving products in recent times have been the birthchild of chemists and engineers working hand in hand to develop lifesaving solutions to the challenges at the fore. By teaching Chemistry, we seek to enhance the thought process of the students by equipping them with the necessary tools to enhance their analysis and decision-making skills.

At NUTECH, we strive to impart theoretical knowledge of basic chemistry complemented with the proof of concept in the labs and their industrial applications. The contents have been deliberated upon very meticulously to build a basic understanding of the concepts and their application in a stepwise manner. The course covers basic concepts of atomic structure, bonding, electrochemistry and thermodynamics reflecting upon real world applications. Introduction to chemical kinetics, acid base equilibria, catalysis and green chemistry is also highlighted in the course. Our faculty, apart from teaching, is involved in divergent areas of research in electrochemistry, computational chemistry, nanomaterials as well as organic synthesis.

Objectives

  1. To develop a thorough and concrete understanding of the multifaceted dimensions of Chemistry and its specific applications linked to industries.
  2. To prepare and equip our students with creative potential so that they can make significant contributions towards society at local and global industries.
  3. To hone the capabilities of students by imparting quality education and important skills of analysis along with reasoning capabilities.
  4. To uphold and instill professional ethics in students
