Academia-Industry Discussion on Bachelors of Infrastructure Engineering Technology Program (B-IET)

A delegation comprising of Heads/CEO’s of Military and Civilian organizations and companies visited National University of Technology to strengthen the academia – industry linkage and discuss the cooperative efforts of starting Bachelors of Infrastructure Engineering Technology Program (B-IET) at NUTECH. At this occasion, Rector Lt Gen (Retd) Khalid Asghar reiterated that academia and industry should join hands to educate and produce technically sound applied (hands-on) HR having sound (required) theoretical knowledge in order to plan and execute industrial projects in most effective and efficient manner by following best practices.

Head of Department Civil explained that Bachelors of Infrastructure Engineering Technology Program (B-IET) lays emphasis on Infrastructure Engineering Technologies in terms of planning, introduction to designing, construction and environment management. The program will produce practical and field-oriented professionals in cooperation with the construction industry. It will combine academics with technical skills needed to successfully manage any infrastructure project. This cooperation program between NUTECH and industry allows student to take on increasing levels of responsibility and to use their job knowledge and classroom learning to make meaningful contributions.

The participants gave their valuable suggestions during a meaningful discussion and entire forum was supported the B-IET as a National need. Later, participants visited Academic Block for a brief orientation with NUTECH academic infrastructure. They were especially appreciative of the NUVENT Team for their indigenous development activities. In the end the Rector Lt Gen (Retd) Khalid Asghar thanked all participants for sparing their valuable time and gracing this important occasion.
