Dr. Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant of Pakistan’s Prime Minister and Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Visits NUTECH

Dr. Sania Nishtar Special Assistant of Pakistan’s Prime Minister and Federal Minister Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety visited NUTECH on 4 Nov 2020. Rector of the university Lt Gen (Retd) Khalid Asghar welcomed the honorable guest. She was briefed about the NUTECH vision, mission and education methodology. Rector highlighted the needs of our industry and explained to the honorable guest, a roadmap how NUTECH aims to fulfill these needs, which she appreciated.

 While interacting with NUTECH students and faculty, Dr Sania Nishtar said it is for the first time in the history that such a big undergraduate scholarship program has been initiated purely on government expenses under “EHSAAS” initiative to ensure 50,000 deserving students’ access to higher education annually. She interacted with the EHSAAS Scholarship awardees 2019 and prospective candidates for the scholarship. She also shared her views regarding EHSAS Scholarship program and discussed the pros and cons of the program with the students.

EHSAAS Scholarship program has been launched in Pakistan by the PM to uplift low income individuals. The aim of EHSAAS initiative is to alleviate poverty from the country and provide social security. NUTECH was able to receive 49 EHSAAS Scholarship in 2019. Now, approximately, 100 students have already applied for the scholarship and this number is likely to increase by 30th Nov 20, InshaAllah.

Dr. Sania Nishtar appreciated the efforts of NUTECH for supporting and being a partner to the Federal Government’s initiative of EHSAAS Scholarship Program.
