National University of Technology (NUTECH) Participates at Pakistan’s Disaster Early Warning Technical Expo 2025 (DEWTE-25) Organized by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)

Dec 10, 2025

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) organized the Pakistan Disaster Early Warning Technical Expo 2025 (DEWTE-25) at NDMA Headquarters, Islamabad, on 10–11 December 2025. The expo highlighted cutting-edge innovations in disaster risk reduction, artificial intelligence, early warning systems, and climate resilience. Leading experts, innovators, researchers, policymakers, and technology partners from across the country participated, showcasing advanced solutions aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s disaster preparedness, response, and resilience through technology-driven innovation.

The National University of Technology (NUTECH) actively participated in the expo by showcasing its research and development projects aligned with disaster management and emergency response. The NUTECH booth attracted significant attention from high-level dignitaries and government officials, including Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Mr. Shahid Khan Afridi, former Pakistani cricketer and Ms. Masarrat Misbah, renowned entrepreneur and makeup artist. The visitors appreciated NUTECH’s applied research initiatives and its role as a “University for Industry” in addressing national challenges through innovation.

In a notable achievement, NUTECH students of Computer Engineering of Batch 2022 Saif Ur Rehman and Muhammad Hassan, secured third prize in the NDMA competition held during the expo. Their award-winning application, ResQ, is a multi-disaster early warning and emergency response system designed to provide real-time alerts, predictive insights, and safety guidance. The app integrates mobile-based earthquake detection, an emergency Bluetooth mesh network for communication during signal outages, and live data from NDMA to deliver accurate hazard information. ResQ enables users to receive warnings, share alerts, communicate offline, and follow step-by-step emergency guidelines during earthquakes, floods, storms and other disasters, underscoring NUTECH’s commitment to impactful, industry-relevant innovation.

NUTECH continues to strengthen its position as a leading University for Industry by promoting applied research, innovation, and technology-driven solutions that address national priorities. Through active participation in platforms such as DEWTE-25, NUTECH remains committed to developing skilled professionals and impactful technologies that contribute to Pakistan’s sustainable development and disaster resilience.
