I am Dr. Abdullah Waqas, an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the National University of Technology (NUTECH), Islamabad. With extensive experience in academia and research, my primary research interests lie in wireless communications, machine learning, and IoT security. I am particularly interested in developing intelligent, energy-efficient, and secure communication systems for 5G and beyond networks, including UAV-assisted and distributed wireless environments. I am passionate about exploring how AI-driven models can enhance network performance, security, and adaptability in complex communication scenarios. My teaching philosophy focuses on building a strong theoretical foundation while equipping students with practical skills in modern simulation tools, programming, and data-driven methodologies.
I have extensive academic and administrative experience, having served as Graduate Coordinator and a key member of curriculum development and accreditation initiatives. I played a central role in establishing advanced laboratories and modernizing engineering curricula in line with international standards. In addition to my research, I am actively engaged in supervising PhD and MS students in areas such as secure IoT systems, UAV network optimization, and intelligent routing algorithms. My broader research vision is to integrate artificial intelligence with next-generation wireless systems, enabling adaptive, secure, and autonomous network architectures for future 5G/6G ecosystems.
