I am Dr. Muhammad Wisal, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Nutech University. With over 8 years of experience in both academia and the tech industry, my primary research interests lie in vibration dynamics, prognostic health monitoring, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, and IoT. I am passionate about exploring how data-driven models can solve real-world problems, particularly in machinery health and robust system design. My teaching philosophy centers around providing students with a strong theoretical foundation, while also equipping them analytical tools for optimized engineering designs.
Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical university, Nutech University Islamabad (Jul 2025–Present)
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Vibration mechanics, Instrumentation and Machine Learning.
- Advise students on research projects related to IoT, machine health monitoring and computer vision.
- Serve as a faculty mentor for student clubs focused on AI and technology innovations.
Research Assistant, Department of Mechanical engineering, Seoultech University Seoul S.Korea (2023–2024)
- Worked on projects like design and optimization of a 6dof magnetic levitation precision transport module etc.
ML Scientist, Neural Loops (2020–2022)
- Led a team to develop AI-powered software solutions for predictive analytics in urban mobility parking.
- Camera feed was used for parking analysis and users were empowered to select parking from smart phone application.
Project Engineer, LUNA (2018–2020)
- Led a team to develop efficient energy solutions for cost-effective indigenous street lights under UNO’s SDG program for rural communities of Philippines.
- 100 Indigenous Street lights were designed and installed on a 2km stretch of Tulay Buhangin Community.
- The overall cost of the project was reduced by more than 60%.
Academia
- Ph.D. in Mechanical engineering, Hanyang University, Soeul, S.Korea (2025)
- M.Sc. in Mechanical engineering, NUST, Pakistan (2015)
- B.E. in Mechatronics engineering, UET Peshawar, Pakistan (2012)
I have published peer-reviewed papers in top-tier journals and conferences, such as IEEE, Acoustics and Vibrations. I also serve as a reviewer for several prominent academic journals in the field of AI and health monitoring.
My research focuses on the intersection of machine learning, IoT based monitoring and health analysis of rotary machinery as well as medical applications. I am currently working on several projects that apply AI techniques to healthcare, such as developing algorithms for seizures and fall detection of patients. I have received research funding from both the Korea Research Foundation (KRF), UNO and private institutes for my work on deep learning based prognostic health monitoring and social innovation.
