Mr. Sohaib Zafar

Introduction

Sohaib Zafar is a Lecturer at the Department of Electrical Engineering, National University of Technology Islamabad. He  received BSc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology(UET) Lahore in 2014. After working as Electrical Desgin Engineer in the industry for three years, he earned a Masters in Electrical Enigneering from Lahore University oof Management Sciences (LUMS) in 2021. He worked at LUMS Energy Informatics Research Lab, before moving to senior engineer roles in industry. He has also held visiting lecturer positions at MNS University of Engineering and Technology, Multan, and Punjab Tianjin University of Technology, Lahore. Before joining NUTECH, he served as Senior Enigneer at ETS Devices, developing power systems solutions for US Federal Market clients. His experience spans research, academia, and industry, with a particular focus on energy and power systems.

  • Electrical Machines (EE3601): Principles, analysis, operation, and performance of electrical machines, including transformers, motors, and generators.
  • Electrical Energy Systems: Fundamentals of electrical power generation, transmission, distribution, and analysis of energy systems.
  • Electrical Instrumentation: Principles and applications of electrical measurement, instrumentation systems, sensors, and measurement techniques.
  • Computing Fundamentals: Core concepts of computer systems, programming fundamentals, algorithms, and computational problem-solving.

Research

Sohaib Zafar’s research interests lies in power system modeling, dynamic stability, and grid optimization, focusing on the integration of renewable energy and energy storage technologies. He is interested in integrating the renewables in essential service provision to remote off-grid communities in developing world.
