In a prestigious investiture ceremony held at the Governor House Lahore, the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (T.I.) was officially conferred upon Engr. Prof. Dr. Marium Jalal Ch on behalf of the President of Pakistan. This recognition marks a historic milestone in the nation’s history, as Dr. Marium joins a very rare and exclusive circle of female engineers to be decorated with this high civil honor in Pakistan’s history.
A distinguished researcher, educationist, and scientist in the fields of Electrical, Information, Computer, and Interdisciplinary Engineering, Engr. Prof. Dr. Marium Jalal Chaudhry has made remarkable contributions toward developing technology-driven solutions for climate change and environmental sustainability through the integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), engineering, and digital innovation. Through internationally funded initiatives supported by the European Union and the British Council, she has contributed to the development of novel climate technologies, smart environmental solutions, and integrated technology education models aimed at strengthening climate resilience in Pakistan and globally.
She is currently serving as Professor of Computer Engineering and Founding Director of the European Union Center of Excellence for Climate Actions with ICT at the National University of Technology (NUTECH), Islamabad.
Alongside her scientific and technological contributions, she has also played a significant role in promoting women’s participation in engineering and emerging technologies by mentoring young female researchers, supporting international scholarship opportunities, and encouraging greater inclusion of women in science, technology, engineering, and innovation sectors.
