Launch of 1st Ever Innovative Cooperative Model Bachelor of Engineering Technology Program Will Make Engineering Technologies Attractive Career for our Youth – Dr Arif Alvi

President Dr. Arif Alvi has said that NUTECH designed innovative program for Engineering Technologists will transform their education into one of the most attractive careers in Pakistan in the near future. He was addressing at the launch ceremony of Cooperative Model (Coop) based first ever Bachelor of Civil Engineering Technology program at National University of Technology (NUTECH) where he was the Chief guest.

​The ceremony was attended by high ranking military and civil officials alongwith eminent academicians & industrialists (Mr. Fayyaz Ilyas Chairman Association of Builder and Developer of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Hassan Bakshi Former Chairman ABAD, Mr. Zubair Motiwala Patron) from all over the country. He termed the initiative a very timely and in the right direction for progress of construction industry. He opined that the industry would definitely be benefited once desired quality human resource, fully equipped with modern technology tools is available to render their services. He appreciated the uniqueness of program wherein joint University-Industry select candidates will participate and graduate after applied training in the industry which will be completely assessed jointly by academia and industry. He congratulated program stakeholders HEC, NTC, PEC, NUTECH and National Construction Industry for attaining such unique success thereby contributing towards national industrial and socio-economic development. President specially thanked all participants from construction industry for their all-out support and looked forward to other industry sectors for similar initiatives in their respective domains. 

​ In the end, President highlighted the importance of strong academia-industry linkage especially in the context of supporting CPEC and emerging technologies of 4th Industrial Revolution and prayed for the success of NUTECH as the leading technology driven research university for industry in the future.

Earlier, Rector NUTECH Lieutenant General (Retired) Khalid Asghar briefed the President and all other guests about concept and academic aspects of this cooperative civil engineering technology program. He explained that through this BET program the graduates will have assured employment by the industry because of their quality, applied skills, networking with industry and acquaintance with high end technologies during the studies. With this futuristic program, our BET graduates will be at power with the world renowned German, Australian, Finnish and Indian IIT graduates. NUTECH will launch six such programs in civil, mechanical, electrical, railways, IT and biomedical engineering in next four years. For these six programs it’s likely that govt will fund the students in terms of tuition fees and other administrative requirements. However, subsequently, the students will be first employed by the industries and then undergo education at university.  While highlighting the objectives of NUTECH as University for Industry, he explained that NUTECH envisions to innovate, create, develop, implement and promote technologies of the future for economic development of Pakistan. In doing so, NUTECH in its first two years of operations has developed a state of the art Ventilator which is under trials at PEC and is now working on development of 3D Printer, Dialysis Machine and a Portable X Ray system. Participants of the launch ceremony were also shown newly developed Ventilator. The Rector also explained about tripartite agreement of Ministry of Railways and Science and Technology and NUTECH for the capacity building of Pakistan Railways in the realm of technologies and skills for ML1, 2 and 3 projects. He committed that Cooperative Model Bachelor of Civil Engineering Technology program will commence from Fall 2021 Session.
