Seminar on “Beyond Energy Efficiency: Designing Buildings as Integrated Value Systems Organized at National University of Technology (NUTECH)

May 04, 2026

NUTECH has organized a seminar titled “Beyond Energy Efficiency: Designing Buildings as Integrated Value Systems,” aimed at enriching the knowledge of Civil Engineering students and faculty. The session was delivered by Mr. Mikko Ekström, a Finland-based expert in construction project management and strategic consultancy.

The seminar highlighted modern approaches to building design through systems thinking, emphasizing the concept of treating buildings as integrated systems rather than isolated components. Mr. Ekström discussed value-based design principles, with a strong focus on energy efficiency as a critical factor in enhancing building performance. Participants gained insights into how improved interaction among building elements can significantly enhance usability, occupant comfort, and long-term sustainability outcomes.

The session provided a valuable platform for academic and professional development, aligning with NUTECH’s commitment to advancing innovation in engineering education.
