The European Union Center of Excellence for Climate Action with ICT (EU-CoE), Department of Computer Engineering, National University of Technology (NUTECH), Islamabad, successfully organized a professional training session titled “HEC-RAS Training 2026: Modeling Floods, Mapping Risk, Guiding Decisions” in collaboration with AI Geo Navigators, Islamabad. The event brought together professionals, researchers, students, and experts to strengthen technical capacity in flood modeling and climate resilience planning.

The event was hosted under the leadership of Engr. Prof. Dr. Marium Jalal Chaudhry, T.I., Director EU-CoE, along with Dr. Jawaria Usman, Assistant Professor; Dr. Laraib Malik, Assistant Professor; Miss Amina Khalid, Senior Researcher; and Mr. Faizyab Ikram, Finance Manager. The technical sessions were conducted by Mr. Owais Ali, Chief Operational Officer; Mr. Mudassir Sohail, GIS Officer; and Mr. Usman Shafiq, IT Officer from AI Geo Navigators.

The training focused on hydraulic modeling, flood simulation, hazard mapping, and climate-informed planning using HEC-RAS (Hydrologic Engineering Center – River Analysis System). Participants gained hands-on experience in flood risk analysis, terrain preparation, and interpretation of hydraulic modeling outputs for disaster preparedness and infrastructure planning.

The successful training reflects NUTECH’s commitment to climate action, applied research, and capacity-building through innovative ICT-driven solutions and collaborative initiatives.
